About
Through the Mill is the brainchild of Donald Knapik. Don has spent his entire life in the Cleveland area and has deep ties to the community.
His father worked for thirty years at the former LTV Steel as an environmental and quality control chemist where he developed an industry standard method for steel analysis. His mother has been a life-long union member starting out as an organizer for the IUE, now merged with the CWA, and retired from Giant Eagle supermarkets as a member of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 880.
Most recently, Don worked as an elevator mechanic through the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) Local 17 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is the local’s correspondent to the Elevator Constructor (IUEC) and the Cleveland Citizen (AFL-CIO).
